How to get an MP3 from a clip
The steps are the same on every platform; only the link differs.
- Copy the link to the clip.
- Paste it into the box on the GetFrom.io home page and press the button.
- Look for the audio column rather than the video resolutions.
- Pick a bitrate and download.
Which bitrate should you choose?
Bitrate is data per second: higher means closer to the source and a larger file.
- 64 kbps
- Very small. Fine for pure speech, like a lecture you want to keep cheaply.
- 128 kbps
- Enough for podcasts, interviews and listening through a phone speaker.
- 192 kbps
- The comfortable middle for music; hard to distinguish from higher without good headphones.
The thing people most often get wrong
The audio can never be better than what the platform stored. A high bitrate does not add detail that was not in the source — it only loses less while converting. If the original sounds poor, the MP3 will too, whatever you choose.
The other is speed. Some clips already hold a separate audio track and can be handed over almost immediately; others store audio in a form that has to be converted first, which takes a few seconds on our server. That is why the progress bar sometimes seems to pause near the end.
Turning it into a ringtone
Download the MP3 first, then trim the part you want with an audio app on your device — ringtones are usually 20 to 30 seconds. On iOS it also has to become an .m4r file, via GarageBand or a similar app. Both steps happen on your device, not here.
Frequently asked questions
Does it work for long clips?
Very long ones are refused to keep the service usable for everyone, but an ordinary music video, podcast episode or lecture is fine.
Will the file keep the title?
Yes — it is named after the clip, so your library stays readable without renaming anything.
Can I get WAV instead?
MP3 is what is offered: it plays everywhere and the files are far smaller. Convert on your device if you need WAV, but converting back cannot restore quality that was already discarded.
Do I need to log in?
No — only the clip's public link is used.
